The Irish Horse Rehoming Programme was launched in June 2014 by Carrie Keogh and achieved Charitable status in January 2020. Carrie previously worked for IHWT as their Chief Welfare Officer. She has successfully rehomed hundreds of equines over fourteen years with that charity. Her success in rehoming is due mainly to the time and effort she puts in to matching a suitable equine to a suitable owner.
Carrie herself has a lifelong association with horses.She has worked in a variety of sectors in the equestrian industry gaining invaluable skills. She has experience in breaking and schooling young animals. She has schooled and prepared all types of horses and ponies for competition. She has years of experience in stud work including handling Stallions, care of pregnant mares, assisting in foaling, aftercare and the care of orphan foals. Carrie has completed a Certificate in Equine Assisted Therapy. She has received extensive training in Equine Nutrition from Bluegrass Horse Feeds and Kentucky Equine research and has visited Feed mills in NI, the UK and the US, so she has a working knowledge of how feed is made! But most importantly Carrie is passionate about equine welfare and increasing the number of equines that can be saved. Now with the help of a team of 6 trustees and a large amount of supporters, IHRP will continue to grow and save many more lives! |
